Local Love: Wendy's Country Market

Local Love: Wendy's Country Market

We love showing love to other local businesses, services and organizations! One of the most important parts of our business is sharing resources in our community with you so that you can be sure to find everything you need during your parenting journey.

One of our long time favorite businesses is Wendy's Country Market. We have been visiting Wendy for well over 5 years now. We were first introduced to this lovely business when Ryann was a baby.

We were searching for local produce and meats and a friend had recommended Wendy. She offers a delivery service to families in Kingston and also has a small country market in Lyndhurst. Their market is filled with food grown and produced from within a 100 mile radius with a list of products coming from over 70 local farmers and artisans.

While it may be in the country, it is definitely worth the beautiful drive up Highway 15 to talk with Wendy and learn more about the wonderful producers in our city. She knows all about each individual vendor - how they treat and grow their foods and what their farm conditions are like.

If you are looking for delivery, you will inevitably run into Rick, Wendy's partner. He is the guy that runs the show on the road. He travels from Brockville all the way out to Prince Edward County to collect and deliver all these delicious foods to families and businesses across Kingston and area.

Wendy's parents run a farm called Corn Acres that provides many of the local vegetables you see for sale at their Market.

You will often find Wendy's daughter Leah in the market helping out, ringing in orders and stocking shelves. Wendy's Mobile Market truly is a family business and we love that!

What I love most about their location is that it is kid friendly. We show up with our entire brood and we are always welcomed with open arms and hearts. Wendy and her daughter Leah greet all the children with a smile and sometimes a little treat (aka. apple!). The children can then go outside and have a little fun in the gardens or in the small petting farm. Wendy will give the kids some carrots or grains to bring out to the cow, goats, chickens and bunnies - all of which are always happy to see the kids.

A few of our favorites include:

- Slickers Ice Cream in the summer

- Ironwood Organics Oatmeal

- Sonset Farms Spelt Flour

- Paradise Ranch Bacon (pastured meat)

- Limestone Creamery Chocolate Milk

- Eighth Line Farm Ground Beef

- Cressy Mustard

- Vista Farm Unpasteurized Wildflower Honey (my all time favorite honey!)

- Halls Apple Butter

Be sure to visit on the last Sunday of each month throughout the summer for one of their special events! For example, the last Sunday in July was their Corn event and the last in June was their Strawberry Event! They have vendors, chefs, and music on these days. A wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon!

Have you been out to Wendy's Mobile Market? What is your favorite food? What do you love most about visiting?
