Join Kingston and area families Sunday July 10 from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Go Green Baby, 293 Division Street, for Kingston's first Diaper Drive. Bambinos and Blankets Kingston Inc will be collecting disposable diapers and reusable diapers to support families in need. Our goal is to collect 5000 diapers that will be distributed to local organizations supporting families. Help make our goal a reality by donating any new disposable or new and used reusable diapers!
“1 in 5 Canadian moms have experienced diaper need. Diaper need is the struggle to provide babies and small children with clean diapers” says The Diaper Bank of Toronto. “Babies kept in wet or dirty diapers are more likely to experience signs of irritation and discomfort. They cry more often and suffer from worse diaper rash. These babies are also at greater risk of developing staph, urinary tract and other infections. The likelihood of abuse increases when a child cries more often.”
Overall, greater Kingston had 13,320 families living in poverty in 2009. The number of children under 17 who lived in poverty was 6,040 in 2009 (source: Statistics Canada).
Bambinos and Blankets Kingston Inc. is a non profit organization that collects new and gently used essentials to donate to babies and toddlers in need. Bambinos and Blankets will pick up items right at your door step and drop them off to community organizations that know of people in need. Go Green Baby is a local business with a focus on supporting families, creating community, building relationships and changing lives. Together, we want to support all families in Kingston and area so that we can all come together as a community and raise healthy, confident children.
Bambinos and Blankets wants to connect families in need with basic essentials. Without having basic essentials available, families and children miss out on opportunities that they should otherwise be a part of.
New disposable diapers along with new and used reusable (cloth) diapers can be dropped off at Go Green Baby July 10 between 10:00am and 1:00pm. Diapers do not have to be in packages and can be dropped off individually. Refreshments, entertainment, local vendors and free mom and baby massages from Better Balance Massage Therapy will be available!
“It takes a village to raise a child.” Let's bring our village together in Kingston to build a strong community of families supporting each other.
