Postpartum Doula

What is a Postpartum Doula?

A postpartum doula is a professional who comes into your home to support you during your postpartum period. We are there to offer loving support, guidance and assistance after you give birth. We act as a support person hat you can rely on after you have given birth.

We offers services in the following area (but in no way are we limited to these areas):

- Feeding your baby

- Postpartum Recovery

- Infant Care Basics (cleaning, bathing, diapering, calming, etc)

- Mama Care (nutrition, yoga, getting back to yourself)

- Sleeping for both you and your baby

- Babywearing

- Screening for postpartum adjustment (anxiety, depression, mood disorders, etc)

- Connecting you with local services and service providers in the community

We offer services on a one time basis or on an extended need. You may hire for a one time information and consultation or you may want us to come several days per week for the first two months. We will cater to whatever needs you may have.

Who am I?

I am Natalie, mom to 4 beautiful children, entrepreneur, teacher, wife, aunt, community member and postpartum doula!  I have over 7 years of experience supporting families in the Kingston area through my business Go Green Baby.

I have spent the past seven years helping families move through their transition to parenthood. Each family has come to me at a different stage in their transition - pregnant, new baby, toddler, child. Together, we have shared success stories and failures and we have learned from each other.

I have experience with all aspects of parenthood - bottlefeeding, breastfeeding, pumping, cosleeping, crib sleeping, cloth diapering, using disposable diapers, babywearing, strollering - is that a word?, going back to work early, staying home with children.

Why hire a postpartum doula?

In the past, families had a strong support system. They either lived with their extended family or lived at least within the same city. Mothers welcomed babies into strong networks of family members and close friends, whereby new mothers were loved and cared for by these networks. Communities came together to support and care for new moms as they waded through the postpartum period. Often in today's world, moms no longer have these strong networks, and even family can be far away. Partners will often go back to work shortly after baby is born. Moms are left to tackle these early postpartum months alone and with little support.

A postpartum doula will help you navigate those early months and offer you the support that YOU need to make a calm and loving transition to parenthood. We will share our knowledge, expertise and experience with you and help you make informed decisions that best suit you and your family. We want you to be the best mom you can be!
